I finished The Host the other night. The ending wasn't quite what I expected... I wanted Wanda to live on inside of Ian for some reason, and that's how I thought it was going to turn out.

I love [I use the word in a more than sarcastic manner] is Meyers' ability to write events and their outcomes with the most luckiest of escapes. I mean, I know writers have to creat a situation, then get their characters out of them... but Meyers way of doing it... you gotta laugh at the *ease* of it all. "Here's a dangerous mission. Have fun, and see you in a couple of hours completely unscathed!". I suppose, what with the writers perogative though it's fine. I mean, a completely trusting society, no crime, no violence, no badness... what's truely wrong with that? Aside from the fact that most of humanity was wiped out to get there.

I think one of the reasons why I like this book as much as I do is that I'm also going through a bit of a Stargate SG-1 phase [again] and can relate the Souls to the Goa'uld...

Were the Souls really evil though? I mean, one of the philosophical dilemas of the books... the souls really weren't evil... they were just existing. Meh.

What to read next though? I have finals coming up, and can't decide which book I want to read as a 'reward' of sorts for finishing the acedemic year. Last year I had to finish reading 'Stranger in a Strange Land' before I could start my reward book (H. G. Wells' The War of the Worlds).
